New Venues For 2010

Posted 15th December 2009

We are pleased to announce a new venue and gig date has been added for 2010.   We have a slot at 'The Kings Head', Staplehurst on Friday 4th June 2010.

Furthermore, with so many people coming to see us in Maidstone during 2009 that live in the Medway towns, we are trying to secure some slots at 'The Star', Gillingham for 2010.   Please check the gig guide over the next few weeks for dates as they are added.   We are keen to find a home venue in the Medway towns for 2010 and 'The Star' is an ideal venue for us.   We hope to have more information shortly.

Mofos Christmas Build-Up

Posted 13th December 2009

Its nearly Christmas, the weathermen are talking snow....but what do they know !.....could it be a white Christmas ?....could it ?....Naahhh, why are we so gullible.   Lets face it, we all want it to be dry and 'warm-ish' for the annual Mofos Druid's Arms Christmas party gig on Saturday 19th December.   In preparation for this, we've actually managed to secure a slot in the rehearsal studio to tighten things up this week and work on sets for the last two remaining gigs of 2009.

I guess this means a couple of Christmas tunes to keep within the festive mood !.   Facebook invites are out, attendees are responding and the weekend can't come quickly enough !.   We need all your support for Saturday.   The Druid's Arms has become our home venue and expectation is high.   Its a hard act to follow after our last 'killer' gig at The Duke Of Edinburgh, but the band are 'well up for it' !.

Hope to see you there.   Let's party Mofos !.   You know you wanna !

Bustin' In Barming & 2010 Gig Dates Released !

Posted: 22nd November 2009

The Mofos played a bustin' set at The Duke Of Edinburgh, Barming on 21st November.   Its the busiest we've ever seen the pub and was a great night for all.   Even Matt Trott joined the band to kick-start 'Our Velocity' (Maximo Park).   A new song was aired (well its old really, but new for us) with 'Rock n' Roll' Star' - Oasis which went down a storm, so no doubt we'll be doing that one again.

Also, new gig dates for 2010 have been added to the website - 16 so far.   Just click 'Gigs' on the left hand menu.   For the time being its the regular slots.   We are approaching some venues in the Medway towns and there will be more dates to follow, so watch this space.   Our next gig is the 'Mofos Christmas Party' at 'The Druids Arms' in Maidstone and I'm sure we'll think of a couple of cheesy Christmas songs to do.   Hope to see you there !

Halloween

Posted 1st November 2009

Despite Ian suffering from a bad throat, the gig went ahead as planned, although a quick re-jig of the set was carrried out beforehand.   The Druid's Arms was packed out again for the Mofos Halloween gig and there were plenty of people in scary costumes/make-up.

The evening rocked and it was good to see so many people getting into it.   So many friends and family were also present and the support was fantastic as ever.

The Mofos are getting as much rest as they can for another gig this afternoon at the Dog & Gun, Maidstone.   Kick off is at the earlier time of 5pm and it would be good to see you there.

Cheers !

Tightening Up !

Posted 17th October 2009

Hi folks, the Mofos are back in the rehearsal studio this week leading up to a private charity gig on Saturday 24th October followed by a double weekender on Saturday 31st October (Halloween gig at The Druid's Arms, Maidstone) and Sunday 1st November (The Dog & Gun, Maidstone).   The Mofos will be tightening up a handful of sets for these 3 gigs based on previous sets, but may introduce one or two new songs.

With winter well and truly on its way and those grey skies becoming all too familiar, its time to come and enjoy an evening with the Mofos to regain some serious 'feel good factor'.   Hope to see you at one of the forthcoming gigs.

Wazillions Of Thanks

Posted 29th Sept 2009

A wazillion thanks to those that came to see us at Earls, Maidstone on Saturday 26th September.   With a stonkingly powerful house PA I think everyone's ears were ringing for about the next 48 hours.   Despite a quiet start the place was rammed by the time we commenced the second set and a good night was had by all.

Talking to Dave (the landlord), he informs us that there are plans to extend and re-furbish the pub next year which will include turning the stage around, giving more space and better direction of music, so we'll look forward to that for 2010 as its a great place to play.

If anyone has any photos, please email them to us at the usual address and we'll try getting them onto the website.

Crocked Mofo & A Birthday Bash

Posted 21st September 2009

Hi folks, just to remind you that we are still playing at Earls this coming Saturday (26th Sept).   We're on at the usual time of 9pm or thereabouts.   It will be four weeks since the last gig at The Druid's Arms.   In that time, Ian has broken his foot (may even still be on crutches for the gig !) and John had his 40th birthday bash.

John's party had guest band 'Crush' playing and of course the Mofos did a few numbers too.

John was aptly dressed as John Travolta in a white suit (60s/70s fancy dress) and made his entrance on stage later on as '118'......a classic moment of hilarity it has to be said !

Look forward to seeing those that can make it to Earls this weekend.   We're all in much need of some loud music and good company of course !.   Please come along and help us make it a great evening.

River Festival 2009 Footage

Posted 30th August 2009

The Mofos play 'No You Girls' at the annual Maidstone River Festival.   See the Video section of this website for additional footage.

Revelry

Posted 30th August 2009

It was another night of Revelry with the Mofos on Saturday 29th August at the Druid's Arms, Maidstone.   Although numbers were thin at the start, they soon rose to near capacity as we've come to expect.

A good (and forgiving crowd) seemed to be enjoying themselves.   Two new songs for us were aired.   Firstly, following popular demand a track by The Stereophonics ('The Bartender & The Thief').....see we do listen to suggestions !.

Secondly 'All You Good People' by Embrace....which even had Paul joining in on the chorus (which is just as well cos Andy forgot the words !).

There was also a return of some well-known keyboard tracks (Cold Play - 'Life In Technicolor Part II' and 'Talk', The Coral - 'Dreaming Of You' and a few others).   If anyone has any photos from the evening you can email them to us or post them on the Mofos Facebook group site.

All in all a good evening and lots of friendly faces.   As always though, never enough time to chat to everyone in the breaks....oh well, see you at the next gig and watch out for some River Festival 2009 YouTube clips coming soon.

Mofos To Rehearse !

Posted 9th August 2009

Yes...you heard right...The Mofos are set to rehearse not once but twice in the run up to the next Druid's Arms gig on 29th August....(erm,...let's hope its worth it guys !).   Consideration for new songs has been given and we will be tackling some of these this week in rehearsals.

Two songs in the pot are from a band that we regularly get requests for, but we can't say anymore.   The Druid's gig may also see a re-introduction of keyboards into the set.   As always, keep any song suggestions coming.....if we like them, we'll do them - simple as that.

Get the 29th August in your diaries !

Mofos On 'You Tube'

Posted 29th July 2009

The Mofos are now on YouTube !.   Just go to www.youtube.co.uk and search for 'MofosThe' or click on the promo below.   If anyone has any video footage please send to us at themofos@hotmail.co.uk and we'll add these on.

Sun at the River Festival !

Posted 26th July 2009

Well the rain held off for the infamous River Festival on Saturday 25th July and the sun even graced us with its presence during the afternoon slot by the river.   The Mofos rattled through a 40 minute set at the family event, delivering 11 up-beat songs in record time before clearing the stage and heading off for Chile......well Chilli actually......for dinner.   This was a key part of the day before embarking on an eventful evening's set at The Druid's Arms, Maidstone.

The Druid's Arms was busy, busy, busy.   Everyone was packed in like sardines and they were refusing entry to those on the street by the time we got underway.

I think this is the busiest we've ever seen the pub and courtyard and the crowd was in fine spirits...particularly those at the front who it would appear were singing and dancing like it was the last thing they'd ever do !.

Thanks to all that ventured out to both River Festival and Druid's Arms gigs - some even turned up to both !.   It was a tiring day, but was enjoyed by all and we hope everyone got home safely.

Crocked Mofos

Posted 13th July 2009

Well its been a while since the last update!.   Since then John has had a major back operation and Andy has had to learn how to walk again after getting knocked down by a dalmation on the Sussex Downs.   Holidays all round have helped, we're back rehearsing and soon to be back fit as ever for the annual Maidstone River Festival (now confirmed a slot for 4pm - Sat 25th July, near St Peter's Bridge).

Also, we can confirm another new gig for that day at 'The Druid's Arms', Maidstone and the kick off for that is 9pm as usual.  Hope to see you there !

River Festival Video Footage (2008)

Posted 1st June 2009

Ok, ok so its taken a long time to convert and upload, but the 2008 River Festival video footage kindly provided by 'The Moffettes' is now available to view on the website under a new menu option 'Videos'.   Click on the link and then the video....be a little patient, then click play when it says.   This footage was taken in July 2008 when The Mofos headlined the annual Maidstone River Festival event.  Enjoy !

The Mofos are back playing at The River Festival this year, but timings and band slots are still to be confirmed.   As soon as we know what slot we'll be playing, we'll let you know both here and on Facebook.   Hopefully see you there !

More Gigs

Posted 27th May 2009

New gigs have been added to the gig section.   We've been invited back to do The Maidstone River Festival on Saturday July 25th.   We've also added two 'Dog & Gun' dates to our schedule which are Sunday 1st November and 27th December.

Lastly, we've added a new venue (left) and date at 'The Medway Inn' in Wouldham for 10th October.   Hope to see you there !

The Bank Holiday Double

Posted 25th May 2009

A special thanks to those who came to see us for our first gig at 'The Dog & Gun', Maidstone on Sunday 24th May and all those that braved the rain for our headlining appearance at the 'Duke Of Edinburgh' charity event in Barming the following bank holiday Monday.

It was great to see such a turn-out again.   A couple of new songs were played over the weekend ('No You Girls' - Franz Ferdinand & 'Know Your Enemy' - Green Day).

They seemed to go down well.   On that note, we're still trying to encourage people to suggest songs we might do.

New songs are preferred, but indie classics always go down well for us too !.

Drop us an email or grab us during one of our forthcoming gigs anyway if you have any suggestions.

Apathy - Do me a favour !

Posted 3rd May 2009

Its been said a few times, that there is a real apathy towards bands in Kent.....in other words bands struggle to get punters along to gigs......total rubbish if you ask us !.   The turn out for Mofos gigs this year has been better than ever and the Druid's Arms gig on Saturday 2nd May was no exception.   As always, the place was rammed and we'd like to say thanks again for a great evening.

A few new songs were aired over this and the previous 'Duke of Edinburgh' gig including an indie retro classic 'Theres No Other Way' by Blur and new Kings Of Leon tracks 'Somebody' and 'Revelry' together with 'After Hours' (We Are Scientists).

A triplet of Cold-Play songs were also aired in 'Square One', 'Talk' and 'Life In Technicolor II' (although disappointingly Ian's acoustic guitar refused to work for the latter of these).   Its been noted that there are a few new regulars in the crowd over the past year in addition to the 'old faithful crowd and Moffettes', notably John & Lisa (left), Becky & Katie.   Thanks again and we look forward to seeing you all again at the end of the month for the 3rd 'Double-Weekender' of the year !.

Mofos Double-Weekender

Posted 24th February 2009

Thanks to all those that came to see us at 'The Druids Arms' (Sat 21st Feb) and 'The Alex' (Sun 22nd Feb).   Great turnouts again for both gigs despite the so-called 'credit-crunch'.   Highlights included Andy breaking a bass string (first for 7 years), Ian managing to get to the end of each gig without sustaining further damage to his tambourine, Shagger remembering the bass line for Chasing Cars, Paul managing to avoid bleeding over his (or Ian's) guitar and John getting through both gigs with a bad back.

A few old tracks were resurrected over the weekend's gigs including 'The Circle' - Ocean Colour Scene, 'Smile Like You Mean It' - The Killers and 'Take Me Out' - Franz Ferdinand.   In addition to this some new songs 'After Hours' - We Are Scientists, 'Use Somebody' - Kings Of Leon and 'Square One'  - Cold Play.

Two Doses Of Mofos

Posted 2nd February 2009

....just what the doctor ordered !

Despite illness hitting the Mofos in January, two gigs at 'The Duke Of Edinburgh' and  'Earls' went ahead as scheduled.   Thanks to all those that came.   We're always pleased to see so many people.

A first for us, was a gig at Earls, Maidstone on 31st January.   The rather intimate layout, but 'wicked' sound system provided a great evening and despite Andy and Ian suffering from 'Man Flu', the evening was a great success.   There was great support.   We will be back at Earls later this year so please check our gig guide for further information.

Band For Hire !

Its about time we reminded everyone, that we are a band for hire also !.   If you have a private event that you would like to consider booking us for, then please don't hesitate to approach us or email us at themofos@hotmail.co.uk.   Alternatively you can contact us through The Mofos Facebook site.

We are available for hire for any sort of event big or small at an affordable rate.   Rates vary dependant on the location and size of gig in question.   In other words, how far we'd have to travel and whether we would provide our own P.A system (pub or small hall) or hire a P.A (Glastonbury, Reading, I.OW).....you get the picture !.

Great music and good value !

Hello Mofos ! - So What's New For 2009 ?

Posted 5th January 2009

Having survived Christmas, sickness bugs and man-flu The Mofos are back fresh and ready for 2009 !.   We already have 12 gigs booked for 2009.   Checkout our Gig Guide section for more details.

We're hoping to be asked back for the Maidstone River Festival (normally last Saturday in July).   This is the famous open air event held in Maidstone every year, but we'll have to wait and see.   We considered ourselves priviledged to have headlined this event for 2008 and it was one of the highlights of the year for us.

There is a possibility of us playing at another open-air event in the summer (a little further afield) which could involve a Glastonbury-style weekend camping experience with it, however I'm sworn to secrecy at this point as its only a suggestion thats been made and this is still an unconfirmed event.....you know one of those drunken Christmas party suggestions someone made to us......but you never know !

We have two gigs lined up for January: Saturday 24th at the Duke Of Edinburgh, Barming and a first gig for us at Earls, Maidstone on Saturday 31st January.   Will be really good to see you there !

Happy New Year from The Mofos !

Please check out the gig guide for 2009.  We already have a significant number of gigs booked and hope to see y'all real soon !

2008 Gig Frenzy !

Posted 22nd December 2008

Well it was an eventful end to 2008 with a number of gigs at The Duke Of Edinburgh, The Druid's Arms, The Alex and some private events.   The Mofos even managed a first 'double gig' where we played at The Alex and The Druid's on the same day.   The event at The Alex was a successful Cancer fund-raising event.

As always there were swelling vibrant crowds at all these gigs and we've added a handful of 'Crowd Photos' to the website.   Great to see so many familiar faces !.....and to cap it off there were even new Moffette T-Shirts for the Druid's Christmas gig !....but sadly no photos of the 'mad Moffettes' !

River Festival Video Footage 2008

Posted 8th September 2008

There is some Mofos River Festival video footage floating around from summer 2008.   We'll try to add some of the clips to our website shortly, so watch this space (Its already been prised off The Moffettes and needs one of us to pull out our finger and upload it onto the website/Facebook).

The Mofos - Headlined The Maidstone River Festival 2008

Posted 28th July 2008

Thanks to all of you that came to see us at the annual Maidstone River Festival event on Saturday 26th July. Not only were we privileged to be selected as the headline act, but were graced with so much support. It was a fantastic turn-out.

Apologies to those of you who came that we didn't get a chance to speak to. Thanks to the great reception you gave us and we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.
There was also a great turnout from The Moffettes, kitted out in new Pink T-Shirts no less....always ones for getting noticed !

If anyone has photos or video footage of the event, feel free to email them to us at: themofos@hotmail.co.uk

Electrifying Gig !

Posted 10th March 2008

Despite the weather, a partially wet stage and near electrocution of the band, we’re pleased that the turn out for Saturday’s Druid’s Arms gig (8th March) in Maidstone was so good.   In fact, as we’ve come to expect from our ‘home’ venue, the place was rammed yet again through the courtyard where most were warm and dry !.

From the start, the evening offered up a great atmosphere and it was good to see so many people enjoying it as much as we did (a much desired and well overdue break from the daily grind in our case).

Its been noticed that even ‘The Moffettes’ have increased in numbers yet again….well by one at least….(or two if you include the cardboard cut-out of Neil who made a brief return appearance in the second set).   For those of you who don’t know The Moffettes they can normally be found near the front, and in this case were sporting fine new t-shirts with a superb ‘Moffette’ logo exceptionally well positioned across their….erm……fronts !.

Seven new songs were aired by the likes of Biffy Clyro, The Enemy, The Wombats, Foo Fighters and Maximo Park as well as some of the old favourites.

Due to demand The Zutons version of ‘Valerie’ made a return to the set, which goes to prove we do listen to our audience.   If you want to make suggestions for songs, particularly new current songs, or want to contact/comment on the band you can do so by:

-     Using the guestbook on our website at www.themofos.co.uk

-     Email us at: themofos@hotmail.co.uk

-     Join up to The Mofos Facebook group and leave us a message.

Thanks again to those who made it, hope you all got home safely.   Look forward to seeing you soon !

2008 Kicks Off In Style !

Posted 7th January 2008

Thanks to those who came to see us at 'The Alex', Chatham on Sun 6th Jan.   It was the best gig of the year so far........ok, ok, well its been the only gig of the year so far !.   Its great to see some new faces and at least one new Moffette (sorry Neil but you've replaced already by someone much better looking !).    Its fair to say that it was the best atmosphere to date we've ever had at The Alex.

The band will be looking for new songs to rehearse and cover over the next few weeks so feel free to make some suggestions via the website.   We have a few in mind, but will be keeping those close to our chest for the time being.   The band will be going into the studio shortly and we may post some tracks on the website, so watch this space.   The next Mofos gig will be at 'The Druid's Arms' in Maidstone on Saturday 8th March (9pm kick-off as always).

If you wish to hire the band for a private function during 2008, let us know asap so we can discuss rates etc and get you booked in.   Lastly, if anyone has any Mofos photos or video clips fit for publishing on the website, please forward them onto us at themofos@hotmail.co.uk.

Posted 29th October 2007

The Mofos would like to say a special thanks to all those that came to our Halloween gig at The Druid's Arms in Maidstone on Saturday 27th October.  To say the atmosphere was electric would be an understatement. We'd like to say a big thanks to our swelling numbers of regular followers who offered their vocal support on the night, some who even take time to make their own 'Mofos T-Shirts' !!.
Neil, one such t-shirt adorning 'Mofette' regular is soon off to pastures new (emigrating to Australia) and Saturday was his last Mofos gig. Hopefully the gig offered a good send off and we wish Neil all the best for the future. Remember you can follow us on the website from the land of Oz !.

We had a number of requests Saturday for private hire gigs. We always try to honour these requests where possible at competitive rates and subject to our availability.   If you have any enquiries relating to hiring the band, feel free to contact us via the website or via email: themofos@hotmail.co.uk.

The Mofos are back at Druid's on Saturday December 15th.   Hope to see you all there again soon.
